8 April 2024 (Chaitra Navratri): The first solar eclipse of this year took place on 8 April 2024, which was the Khagras solar eclipse. The solar eclipse started at 9:12 pm on April 8 and ended at 1:25 midnight. According to the almanac, Chaitra Navratri started from 11:50 pm on 8th April itself. But due to Udayatithi being valid, the pujas related to Navratri were performed on 9th April.
18 September 2024 (Pitrapaksha): The second solar eclipse of the year took place on 18 September. Pitru Paksha also started from this day. This was Khandagras lunar eclipse. Khandagras eclipse is valid but due to eclipse not being visible in India, activities like Shraddha and Tarpan of ancestors were performed.
2 October 2024 (Sarvapitri Amavasya and Shardiya Navratri): The last solar eclipse of the year occurred on 2 October 2024. The special thing was that from this day the 9-day Sharadiya Navratri started and it was also the last day of Pitru Paksha. But the eclipse started at 09:14 pm. Therefore, all the religious activities were done during the day itself.
