FSSAI issues health advisory for quick commerce companies to not to deliver food items and non-food items in same package

Due to changing lifestyle, people’s lives have now become dependent on quick commerce companies. Be it ordering salt and vegetables for cooking or ordering a cleaning kit to clean the house, many companies are now present in the market that deliver goods in just 10 minutes. Taking advantage of people’s busy lives, these companies deliver food items and non-food items in the same packet. Now quick commerce companies will not be able to do this. FSSAI has issued a health advisory in this regard.

This is the whole matter

It is worth noting that most of the people order everyday goods from quick commerce websites. It has been seen that if someone orders vegetables and mosquito repellent spray, then the quick commerce companies deliver both the things to you in the same packet or bag, but now the quick commerce companies or e-commerce companies will not be able to do this.

FSSAI issued this guideline

According to the information, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India i.e. FSSAI under the Health Ministry has issued guidelines. It said that online delivery platforms will deliver food items and non-food items packed in separate packets. This should not adversely affect people’s health and food items should also not be contaminated.

FSSAI gave this order

In the advisory, FSSAI also ordered that the expiry date of the food items delivered by Food Business Operators (FBOs) should be at least 45 days before the delivery. Additionally, they will also have to provide training to all FBO delivery partners, so that they can deliver food items to consumers safely.

Instructions issued regarding details also

FSSAI also said in its advisory that e-commerce platforms will write the same information about any food item on their website or app as is written on the label of that food item. Apart from the claims written on the label, e-commerce platforms will not be able to make any separate claims on their website or app.
