World Aids Day 2024: AIDS is a serious disease whose name alone is enough to scare. This is an incurable disease. The risk of AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is increasing worldwide. World AIDS Day is celebrated every year on 1 December to create awareness and prevention of this disease caused by HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). The purpose behind celebrating this day is to make people aware of the disease and to take precautions. What is AIDS?

AIDS is a disease caused by infection with the HIV virus. It damages the immune system and weakens the body’s ability to function. Apart from sexually transmitted infections (STIs), there is a risk of this infection being transmitted from mother to child through transfusion of infected blood, use of injections given to an infected person, pregnancy or breastfeeding.

3. If this disease is not taken care of in time, then the viral load in the blood increases, due to which this disease can become dangerous.

2. There may be a risk of getting infected by taking blood from an infected person.

1. There is no vaccine yet to prevent HIV infection. However, some medical reports also mention trials for the treatment of HIV or AIDS. Still AIDS is an incurable disease.

2. This infection does not spread by shaking hands, droplets coming out from sneezing and coughing of an infected person, eating food with an infected person, hence do not discriminate against such people.
